| A survey on the impacts of mining was conducted from January 15 to March 11, 2013 by the Integrity of Creation working group, a member of the USG/UISGS JPIC Commission in Rome. The purpose of the survey was to find ways to promote the common good through a more equal distribution of the benefits of mining and the elimination or reduction of its harmful effects. The survey was prepared through a broad range of input from persons with different areas of expertise. No mining companies were consulted. It was put on line from January 15 to February 28, 2013. Once it became a collaborative effort with the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace, the date was extended to March 11, 2013 to enable contacts from the Council to be notified and have the opportunity to participate. The survey may be put on-line again due to ongoing awareness of this subject. If you are interested in completing the 628 survey questions, please contact ICWG through JPIC Roma. |
