St. Francis of Assisi, PEI - More simple actions for social justice

The fraternity's JPIC Actions for September/October are:

1. Car pool - to reduce carbon emissions and save on gas. Better yet, walk or bike if you can. Visit Environment Canada for more auto ideas.
Try the Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator
2. Cut down on phantom power - put electronics on power bars and turn the bars off when not in use. Buy one that protects your gear from power surges too. This could cut your energy consumption and bill as much as 10% per annum.
Thank you Marion, Louise, Doug and Mike!
Continuing the theme of simple actions we can perform for social justice, St. Francis of Assisi fraternity, PEI shares two more examples from Pope Francis, Time Magazine, Person of the Year 2013:

7. He personally called and consoled a victim of rape...
A 44-year old Argentinian woman, raped by a local policeman was one of thousands who wrote a letter to Pope Francis in 2013. The woman was surprised when she later received a phone call from Pope Francis himself. He consoled the woman and told her "You are not alone."
8. He sneaks out of the Vatican to feed the homeless...
More recently, it is claimed that Pope Francis regularly leaves the Vatican to feed the homeless at night - dressed as an ordinary priest, he joins Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, whom he has appointed as his Almoner to feed the poor of Rome.
