The Regional Fraternity of Eastern Canada is proud to have Dorothy Fenn ofs as a key member of Chalice. | Dorothy Fenn ofs with St Bonaventure Fraternity, Halifax is comptroller for Chalice at their head office in Bedford (Halifax). Chalice is a Catholic charity that primarily supports community initiatives in 15 countries through the sponsorship of children and elderly in need. Every Sponsor Site we assist is under local direction. They believe those who live and experience the difficulties of poverty in developing countries are also those most knowledgeable and capable of responding to its effects. Chalice places special emphasis on helping to provide children with the chance to go to school and learn. They believe that education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Chalice commits over 90 percent of its spending in support of programs. In fiscal year 2015-2016, $22.3 million was spent directly on programs providing nutrition and education to almost 50,000 children and the elderly in 15 developing countries. Chalice has been recognized by MoneySense Magazine as one of the best run Canadian Charities for the past 6 years. |
