A member of St. Francis Fraternity, Toronto is bringing awareness to the Social Safety Net. This "net" includes consumer survivors and their allies in Ontario. They gather together to stitch a quilt and present it publicly at various locations to express the need for change and more assistance in social programs such as health, housing, education, legal aid, daycare, dentistry and more. Photo courtesy of Dawn D'Cruz | Photo courtesy of Dawn D'Cruz The quilt is built one patch at a time, each patch displaying a particular cause or concern. The quilt is now more than 200 feet long, comprising some six hundred squares. By stitching the safety net, other groups are joining in to reduce suffering and the gap between rich and poor. If you are interested in mending the Social Safety Net please visit their site and learn more about an Event near you. |
