What are they doing?

Speaking out in peace, while making the point by:
  • completing questionnaires
  • writing letters and emails
  • making phone calls
Providing support to other Advocacy Groups
Volunteering with:
  • the Mental Health Association
  • Pro Life - a member has been asked to start a committee for ProLife at St. Vincent de Paul Parish
The St. Francis Fraternity in Toronto continues its advocacy for seniors and their needs by being vigilant and speaking out or contacting those in corporate positions or government who could implement changes. They tell us that being vigilant at home, at work work, in hospitals or simply standing at the bus stop has already brought more awareness in areas of the city to those who have never noticed seniors' needs before. There is already keen interest and support by clergy and parishioners.

Re their other area of advocacy,
Mental Health, it is noticed that patients in Toronto are apparently in need of housing and improved housing conditions: having better environments improve health and bring more hope.  Cleaner housing with more support and social connection aids the feeling of being accepted and builds confidence to endure a long-term or short-term illness.
We look forward to learning more next month.
Thank you to Margaret Maines, ofs for this contribution.
