Secular Franciscans from St. Peter’s Fraternity and Mount Alverno Fraternity came together at a local parish recently to help make new-born baby gifts for Sr. Bernadette’s Mission in Malawi Africa. They were joined by many volunteers. Their goal was to make 3,000 gifts and that's exactly what they achieved, all in a day! "It was awesome to have so many SFOs from two fraternities working together!" said Frankie Burg-Feret, SFO, the director of the Silent Children's Mission. | On June 20, 2014, Frankie will leave Canada for Malawi and Zambia where she will present the 3,000 gifts to the Sisters of Charity who help poor mothers in Malawi. "The sisters in Malawi are an inspiration to us all for their tireless efforts for the poor." On her trip, Frankie will also meet with the Franciscan Sisters of Assisi in Zambia and some Secular Franciscans who organize a ministry for prisoners. God speed, Frankie and looking forward to hearing what the Malawi mothers thought of their baby gifts not to mention what is happening with the other projects. |
