How short sometimes we fall in living the gospel... His authenticity is challenging us to rediscover our own authenticity...

Father Michael Perry, Minister General, Friars Minor, summarizes the challenge to Franciscans from our Holy Father, from the moment he chose the name "Francis". Here are some key notes:

"How short sometimes we fall in living the gospel... His authenticity is challenging us to rediscover our own authenticity,... simplify our lives ... Speak less and demonstrate more who are are... Call attention to the very specific things this simplicity of life means... greater life for all people... dignity... respecting creation... co-habit in a dignified manner with the planet... ensure that the planet also has a future."

32 years a baker and while out of work, his wife and daughter signed him up for "Holland's Got Talent". The rest is history as they say but is it? You've only got to look at the video opposite to wonder how older people can be viewed, just how appearances matter.

Although almost 60 years of age, born in 1953, it was Martin's dream since childhood to make a career in singing. Was it too late? Visit his website - how do you view his progress to date?

Look at the Finale of "Holland's Got Talent". What do you notice with the judges? Are you surprised? How does it make you feel?

What can we do to ensure that people are not put out to pasture until they are ready to take it easier?

I wanted to share the good news with you. Almost two months ago you helped circulate the news asking for prayers for Sister Gilberte Buissière, a CND Sister who had been kidnapped in Cameroon, along with the two Italian priests she works with.

We heard early yesterday morning that she and the two priests have been released. She is apparently in good health, as are the priests. She is spending some time in the capital of Cameroon with the CND community there and then making her way back to Montreal...

Sister Gilberte Buissière, a CND Sister freed after two months in captivity. Her faith kept her strong.

Sr. Gilberte Buissière and two Italian priests Giampaolo Marta and Gianantonio Allegri, missionaries from the diocese of Vicenza in northeast Italy, were freed Sunday, June 1 2014. Staff at Canada's Cameroon embassy and security officials in Ottawa celebrated the good news yesterday. They are grateful for the assistance from the Cameroon and Italian authorities.
